Ubon Ratchathani - Lieutenant General Piyaphan Thitwattananon, Corps Commander of the 2nd Army Area, accompanied by Major General Winthai Suwaree, Deputy Director of the Army’s Civil Affairs Department and Army Spokesperson, visited Ubon Ratchathani Province to offer condolences and support to the families of soldiers who lost their lives while performing their duties to protect Thailand’s sovereignty along the Thai-Cambodian border.
The visit also focused on ensuring that the families receive their full entitlements, benefits, welfare, and other forms of assistance from the Royal Thai Army.
The delegation first visited the family of Major Amarin Phasuk in Khumueang Subdistrict, Warin Chamrap District. Major Amarin was killed while performing his duties near Ta Muen Thom Temple.
The Army said it is ensuring that his family receives the rights, benefits, and welfare provided under relevant regulations. In addition, Lieutenant Natee Phasuk, Major Amarin’s elder brother, has been appointed as a Nutrition Officer at Sapphasitthiprasong Camp Hospital. The appointment is intended to provide him with stable employment and enable him to help support the family following Major Amarin’s death.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the “Major Amarin Phasuk” Hall of Honor, a memorial established by the family after converting a former barn into a commemorative space. The hall displays Major Amarin’s military uniforms, personal belongings, ashes, and royal insignia, preserving his memory and his story for future generations.
The delegation later visited the family of Major General Anothai Pongkaew, who was killed while performing his duties at Hill 350 near Prasat Ta Kwai. The Army commander listened to the family’s concerns and offered encouragement, while reaffirming the Army’s commitment to providing continued assistance.
The Royal Thai Army is providing support to Major General Anothai’s family regarding his entitlements, benefits, and welfare. The assistance also includes arrangements for his wife to enter military service, providing her with stable employment and an opportunity to support the family following his death.
Both families expressed their appreciation for the Royal Thai Army’s continued support and care. They said the sacrifices made by their loved ones remain a source of pride, adding that their commitment to protecting the nation represented the highest honor they could fulfill in their lives.
The Royal Thai Army has reaffirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive and continuous assistance to the families of all personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty. The Army said the assurance is intended to provide confidence to personnel serving in all areas that their families will continue to receive appropriate care and support should they make the ultimate sacrifice.
