EV Sales Push Thailand’s Industrial Sentiment Index Higher

Thailand’s industrial sentiment improved in July, supported by continued growth in electric vehicle (EV) sales, expanding domestic EV production, and stronger export activity, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

Panitarn Pavarolavidya, Secretary-General of the FTI, said the Industrial Sentiment Index rose to 90.0 in July 2026, up from 88.2 in June.

The improvement was supported by the continued expansion of the EV market, with EV sales during the first six months of 2026 increasing by 93.07% compared with the same period last year. The acceleration of domestic EV production to meet import-substitution requirements has also benefited the supply chains of related industries.

Meanwhile, accelerated trade and investment negotiations with key partners, including the United States, the European Union, and China, have helped create new market opportunities and ease trade restrictions affecting Thai products.

Exports of industrial goods, including hard disk drives and components and automotive parts, have also continued to expand in key markets such as the United States and Japan.

In addition, the “Thai Helps Thai Plus” measures have helped stimulate sales among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those operating in the consumer goods, food, and beverage sectors.

Despite the improvement in industrial sentiment, however, the sector continues to face risks that require close monitoring. In particular, escalating tensions between the United States and Iran could push up global oil prices, shipping costs, and overall production expenses.

Looking ahead, the FTI projects that the Industrial Sentiment Index over the next three months will rise to 96.1, up from the previous projection of 94.5 in June.

Several factors are expected to support the outlook, including Thailand’s hosting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings, which are expected to stimulate domestic economic activity and enhance Thailand’s image and profile on the international stage.
